What we check before listing an omega-3 product
| Criterion | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Molecular form | Triglyceride form is significantly more bioavailable than ethyl ester — yet ethyl ester is cheaper to manufacture. |
| EPA:DHA ratio | Cardiovascular vs. cognitive benefits may differ based on the ratio. We report actual values, not just total omega-3. |
| Oxidation testing | Rancid fish oil is common and may be counterproductive. We check TOTOX values where available. |
| Heavy metal testing | IFOS or equivalent certification confirms below-threshold levels of mercury, lead and PCBs. |
